The Aboriginals believed:
-land can only be borrowed, not bought
-A treaty was a binding social contract which should define all future relations between themselves and Euro-Canadians
-In the treaties, Euro-Canadians had agreed to provide annuities, land, schools, housing, livestock, agricultural implements and training, medical care, and clothing
